Deep Cries Out to You part 2

LOL I like writing in parts don't it?! But I feel to add to the last posting - because there is so much more God wants to share with us!!

In Psalms 23 we are introduced to the Lord as being our Shepherd- a great image is displayed of the places where He leads us as the Shepherd will do anything to care for His sheep- even lay down His life as we find out in the gospels! One of the things that our Shepherd does is that He restores our soul! David says that besides the still waters He restores his soul!

How amazing is that?! Our soul- comprised of our emotions, thoughts, attitudes- can be restored. In a world where life can leave us broken, hurt and confused- there is a Shepherd who leads us beside the still waters where our souls are restored!!

In John 4, the lady at the well had issues - there was an underlying issue for the reason why she had had five husbands and the man that she was living wasn't even her husband! In life, we meet people (because of course we would never do this :p) who fill that void in their life with other things in the world- they try and satisfy their broken emotions with short term pleasures. But God offered this woman living water - and this water restored her soul. This water is no short term pleasure-Jesus said she would never thirst again! Any insecurity she had was now gone. He brought healing in the deep places.

Her response was to tell all about it! "Come see a man"- all the people could see there was a visible change in this woman! A restored soul carries waters of joy, peace and love!! A restored soul carries rivers of living water! When you drink of Him-that's what flows out of your now restored soul!

Rivers of living water will flow from a restored soul! Let Him lead you by still waters where He will restore you soul :)

*out with the old, in with the new* part 3

!The Finale!
Tired of the mundane life?
 OR
Okay so was watching Wall - E! Yes Wall-E! and if you have not watched it, it is a must!! But watching it I realised a few things...firstly Wall-E is a great movie :P (lol) but most importantly about the way we live, and after watching a message from Bishop T D Jakes, about how we should Live on Purpose, think there are a lot of principles we need to apply to this so that this year is a year of purpose!!

A comfortable life, an easy life is what a lot of us work towards...Easy Street is where we look to buy our homes...but what was promised to us- a narrow road, an abundant life! None of these include comfortable and none of these include easy.

In Wall-E one of the characters decide that is time that the people to live and stop surviving- "I don't want to survive, I want to live'. Some of us just exist and forget that we have been given for a life! We go to church on a weekly basis (possibly) and get fat off the Word we receive - and the end result is a people who are hearers of the Word and not doers of the Word- living that easy life, comfortable and ordinary. But that becomes boring and mundane! Mainly because we were not created for an easy, ordinary life! But we were created for the extraordinary! Being God's workmanship we were created for good works! What does good look like to you? Walking an old lady across the street maybe? Giving to a charity regularly. What does good look like to God? Well when He created Creation, the world, He looked on that and said that was good! Creation was an extraordinary work and that's Gods standards of good! He's created us for good works!

He wants to awaken us to a life of purpose! He wants to awaken dreams, visions, passions and desires in us that will see us achieve the impossible through Him! We can't be like the man in the parable of the talents who buries what the master gives him out of fear. We are not survivors! We must allow what God has given us to increase. This includes walking in love! Loving others should be a fruit people see when we walk with Christ.

This year LIVE!

*1 John 3:18*

Deep Cries Out to You

* Psalm 42:7*

In John 5 we learn that there was a pool, Bethesda, where the sick would wait around, because when the water was stirred by the angel of the Lord, whoever went in first was cured.

There was a man who could not reach the water, because of his sickness. So Jesus approached him and told him to pick up his bed and walk! Jesus didn't carry him to the water - He brought the effectiveness of this water to the man. Let's explore how he did that.

In the chapter before Jesus is talking to a Samaritan woman and says to her 'I will give you fresh and living water.' She was receiving from an Old Testament well, He was offering her His New Testament river! In the Old Testament people lived with visitations from God, but the Samaritan woman and the man by Bethesda got to experience the fullness of God.

Again we see in John 7 from verse 37, He is telling people that the thirsty must come to Jesus. He then says that out of THEIR belly will flow rivers of living water. So when they came to Jesus, not only would this water be available for them to drink but it would flow through and out of them! The water represents the Spirit!

So if Jesus said the effectiveness, the power of the water is in Him, then as we come to Him the water flows through and out of us. In Colossians 1:27 says that Christ is in us the hope of glory! If Christ offered that water, that Spirit and Christ is in us - then that water is in us! A water, a river that can heal the sick, feed the hungry. Funnily enough, Jesus talks to the disciples about the harvest after He shares the revelation with the Samaritan woman, and then demonstrates the Word by healing the man waiting outside Bethesda. There's people around us waiting to be healed! We need to realise that we have a river inside of us- a river of living water.

But I also believe there needs to be a stirring -  a stirring of that river inside of us. In Songs of Solomon 4 it is said that the Shulamite woman is like a spring closed up (Bishop TD Jakes preaches a good message on this). We can be like a spring and fountain closed up. But then Solomon goes onto say that she is a fountain of living waters, a flowing stream! Does this mirror what Jesus says about us? The Shulamite woman then says let the winds blow upon her garden so her beloved can enjoy the fruits. We want His winds to blow on our garden so our rivers can flow. How can we stir the waters? Through worship and intimacy. In John 4, Jesus links living waters and worship. Let those waters be stirred in worship.

I also had the privilege of going to a friend's baptism on Sunday. Water also points to newness of life. There is new life waiting for us to experience and there is life waiting to come out of us!! Be in that place of worship to let life come out of you :)

*out with the old, in with the new* part 2

Thinking about it being 2012, entering a new season and the phrase 'out with the old, in with the new', I felt to write a part 2.

Sometimes we find it hard to walk in our new abundant, extraordinary life because we find it hard or are afraid to let go of the life we currently walk in. I feel to share some things I felt God was sharing with me the other day:

(8) No guilt in life, no fear in death (8)

We are not afraid to die physically when we know Christ. Not only that but we are not afraid to die metaphorically - knowing that before we live, we die, knowing the life He has called us to.

In Luke 9:23-27 Jesus says we need to take up our cross and follow Him. Deny ourselves and follow Him. When we desire our life, desire the world, we lose our soul-lose who we are. The Bible says blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, therefore our desire can not be for our own lives, it can not be for this world- the cares of this world (Matthew 13).

There is a fear of death - not just us dying, but things dying in our life, us going through suffering. But once we acknowledge that there is life in death and that death has lost its sting (1 Corinthians 15:55) and that even death could not hold Christ captive-we will understand that when we are required to die to ourselves in some way shape or form, we are doing a number of things.

We are experiencing freedom and life. Freedom from that fear of death. We are telling death that it no longer has control over us. We die daily, because there is an ongoing power in Christ's resurrection (Philippians 3:10). Paul says in Philippians 3 that what he thought gain, he now counts as loss compared to knowing Christ. When we die with Christ, we are alive with Him and when die to sin we are alive in Him (Romans 6). We die to ourselves, we die daily, in not allowing sin to reign over us.

We die to ourselves because we don't live for ourselves, but we live for Christ. If God delivered Christ from death-raised Christ from the dead, we also trust that He will raise us. When we die daily, we trust that He raises us daily! (2 Corinthians 4:14). It is not I who lives, but Christ who lives in me- forgiveness who lives in me, love who lives in me, peace who lives in me, joy who lives in me! For these characteristics to live in me, I must die daily. And there's no fear in that for we walk by faith and not by sigh (2 Corinthians 5:7). There is no fear in me dying- me having to die to certain things, because I believe Christ will live in me as I do.

Romans 12:1-2 says we are to be living sacrifices, that is our spiritual worship. We walk in newness of life when we die - we awake to who God created us to be.

**Hosea 6:2b 'On the third day He will raise us, that we may live in His sight'**

No fear but faith

*out with the old, in with the new*

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

I have heard this poem so many times, and every time I read it- it feels more liberating than the last time I read it! There is liberty in knowing who you are. Once you get a hold of who you are, there's no stopping you! I remember hearing a sermon where the pastor said 'we are ruined for the ordinary'. I hear so many people say Christianity is boring- church is boring. Who makes it boring? We must do because the Bible says that God has called us to an extraordinary life!! When we walk like Christ we see the lame healed, the blind able to see again, the oppressed freed- all by the power of God!

2 Corinthians 4:7 reads that we have this treasure in earthen vessels. We need to realise what is in us! The author says we are the children of God! You look at royalty and know they are royalty- Princess Diana did not play down her authority but walked confidently in it and used it to empower and encourage others.

Where there are no obstacles, no situations, no mountains, often the only stopping you is you, not realising who you are. Now that some layers have been peeled back into who you are, we can explore how we live that out. I have sometimes been a 'hider'-not the outgoing type, more the introvert in certain situations. For example, amongst a group of people if I have been selected to do something, if I think somebody else in the group can do it better, I would rather let them do it. There is a fear in expressing who I am. I like that the author explains that we should not be afraid to express and release the treasure inside of us, for when we do so we encourage others to do so. I am learning that shining my light is necessary. I am discontent if I do not because I'm not living the life I've been called to live. Like a phone trying to be an iron. Some of you are growing discontent because you are realising there is more! You are realising there is an extraordinary life waiting to be lived. Christ died so that we can live an abundant life- it's time that we awaken to it!

Many of us don't realise who we are and walk like we are the victim, not knowing that in so many situations we have overcome. The author explains that we are not to play small. Jesus tells us to shine our light. Paul tells us we are to rule in life. Walking with our head hung down in despair not knowing who we are will not get us anywhere. If there's treasures in you, there's joy in you and there is strength in you. Being of good courage because Christ has overcome the world will awaken us to dreams not yet dreamt, possibilities unfathomable and inexpressible hope.

For some of us we don't need to see the treasure, the glory of God in ourselves, but we need to see it in others. Encouraging people to be all they can be and let them not feel sorry for being who they are!

Never be afraid of what God has put in you or others. Paul says that he is confident that whatever he commits to God, God will keep. If there is fear in who you are, I encourage you to cast your burdens and commit all your dreams, all that is in you to God, and as He leads you, watch His plans unwind and unwrap itself in front you and you will see who He has called you to be. Never doubt what is in you- somebody might pull up weakness in you- but there is strength in you waiting to be awakened as you are strong in the power of His might! When you are weak, He is strong!

When we realise we are called for something great, often what scares us is that with power comes responsibility- the question is am I capable of rising to such a challenge? The answer is yes! You can do all things through Christ. Don't be like the man who was given talents by his master and was unsure what to do so he buried his talent, while the others invested theirs so their talents grew. Whatever God has planted in you, allow Him to let it multiply in you! Not just gifts in terms of creative arts or business but He has planted love (and He has) let love grow in you as you pour it out to others around you...He has planted joy in you, let inexpressible joy overflow out of you into the people around you. We reflect our Father, who is clothed in glory and when we allow our light to shine - we allow His glory to shine and we invite Heaven here on earth!

Know who you are and know that He has called you for the extraordinary - that which you was born for. Time to live that abundant life :)

Time waits for no one....

TIME

So I stand on the edge of sanity wasting time,
I glide between decisions taking time...around the reeking,
Because if it won't wait for me, why should I respect or wait for it?
Time and time again, I try to keep up with time!
But it runs away....with me, without me.
Time keeps its own time and therefore does not let me in on its secrets, keeps me distant.
So then I am left wondering where has the time gone?
I refuse to wait for the time...
My stubbornness precedes me like pride to a fall.
For only time will tell and with time comes healing,
With time comes process which develops growth.
Truth be told, I'm afraid of time...because I don't know what time is, what time it is?!
And therefore don't know if there is enough time...time to love, time to laugh, time to learn, time to grow, time to succeed.
I'm afraid time will be stolen and I that I will spend time on foolish things!
But...then...I should hold onto time...not let it go so easy...
Even when it wants to run away....with me, without me,
For time is precious...and all along I should have seen...
That time did not want me to chase, wait or buckle running out of time!
But rather for me to walk IN time...

**Ecclesiastes 3:11a "He has made everything beautiful in its time"**

Lord I pray for us often out of time, that You will help us to redeem the time.

Who am I?

Acceptance...Identity.....Validation...Insecurity

What makes us who we are? How do we know who we are?

You notice in this day and age everyone's trying to figure out who they are. What box, what category they fit into. And usually people see a box they want to fit into. They are validated by the car they drive, their career path, the position they are in, the amount they are earning. But do these things even determine who you are?

The Creator ultimately knows who we are- knows who He created us to be. And once we know who He is, we know who we are. Why do I say this? Genesis 1 says He made us in His image. We were therefore created as a reflection of Him. But obviously since the fall that image has been distorted and you are left with people who don't know who they are........

You know that once you know who you are- there is no need to fight for acceptance, fight for people to like you- because you are comfortable in who you are, who God created you to be :) When you know who you are, you walk in a freedom that no one can take from you! The most beautiful thing is for people to stop trying to be somebody else and be themselves.

Neither do we need to conform ourselves to the image of others. If somebody has negative expectations of us, if they do not see us for who are - it is not a problem for us to take on. We need to see ourselves through the eyes of God, our Creator, and walk in that.

And its not about us chasing to serve an image of ourselves- and worrying about who we are. In my last blog I mentioned that the Bible says we should not be worrying, but seeking His Kingdom first! We become confused and wrapped up in ourselves when we start serving our insecurities. As we look to God, and love Him, we begin to love ourselves and know who we are.

We are only called to be ourselves, not fighting to please people or prove to people who we are. Sometimes we think that when we get that position or when x amount people love me or know who I am, then I am somebody :S that is a very worrying place to be at!! We need to accept ourselves and know that we are already somebody! Already valuable! Our worth is too high to spend it trying to please others and trying to be accepted by others!

Live a life of love! You can not love your neighbour as you love yourself, if you do not even love yourself!
